Target Field in downtown Minneapolis lost power for around an hour ahead of the Minnesota Twins’ home opener on Friday afternoon.

According to Xcel Energy, an outage in the North Loop neighborhood, near the baseball venue, started shortly before 2 p.m. and is impacting 1,540 people. 

A WCCO crew at Target Field said lights came back on at 2:48 p.m.

Staff at Target Field told WCCO that people were stuck in elevators as a result of the outage. 

The Twins said in a social media post that pregame ceremonies would be delayed until the issue is resolved. 

The team was scheduled to take on the Tampa Bay Rays beginning at 3:10 p.m. WCCO has learned that the first pitch is estimated for 4:05 p.m.

Xcel Energy said it’s working to learn what caused the outage.
