Not good: Byron Buxton appears to get hit in the right wrist with a pitch in the 7th, drops his bat and walks right to the dugout. James Outman replaces him on the bases. #MNTwins @twins

Buxton was 0-for-3 with a strikeout prior to the injury on Friday. He was replaced on the basepaths by James Outman.

A 32-year-old veteran, Buxton has gone just 4-for-23 to start the 2026 season. However, he’s coming off an excellent 2025 in which he slashed .264/.327/.551 with a career-best 35 home runs and 83 RBI. Health concerns have been a prevalent theme throughout his 12 years in the MLB though, so his status will be one to monitor closely.

The Twins are just 2-4 to begin the new season but held a lead over the Rays when Buxton left the game.
