STANFORD, Calif. — Caden Hottman’s victory in the men’s discus with a distance of 159-11 highlighted Idaho’s Day 1 at the Stanford Invitational.
Fellow Vandal thrower Bradley Hottman was runner-up in the men’s hammer throw at 178-3.
For Washington State, Caroline Jepkorir took second in Section 1 of the women’s steeplechase at 9:59.08, while Evans Kurui was third in Section 1 of the men’s 10,000 at 27:48.06.

Cossey leading WSU at Fanelli Invite
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Aleeya Cossey finished eighth in the women’s 5,000 with a time of 16:40.82 to lead Washington State on Day 1 of the Mike Fanelli Invitational.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Warriors took the doubles point to claim an early lead against No. 16 Marian (Ind.), but the hosts answered with a singles sweep to deal LC State a team dual defeat.
The pairings of Giacomo Moreira/Pablo Herrera and Gautam Balakrishnan/Leonel Gatti each claimed 6-3 set wins for the Warriors (8-8), while LC’s Rafael Bonnet de Larbogne and Nell Rollin were up 4-3 in a set which was left unfinished because the doubles point had been clinched. Three of the six singles matches involved split-set situations, but the Knights (11-8) took the deciding set or super-tiebreak in each instance.
