Twins host Tampa Bay in home opener

  • April 4, 2026

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – The Minnesota Twins are opening up the gates of Target Field for the first time in the 2026 season in a three-game slate vs. the Tampa Bay Rays. Both teams come into this series at 2-4 on the season.

Tampa Bay leads the all-time series at 99-94 and the last time these two teams met, Minnesota took two out of three games.

Bailey Ober is projected to take the mound for the Twins and look to bounce back after his first start against Baltimore. A short four inning stint giving up three runs and only one strikeout. Tampa Bay will look to pounce on Ober early with Yandy Diaz at the top of the lineup sporting a .429 average in six games played. Near the bottom of the lineup, Ober can make his money with a struggling Cedric Mullins, Ben Williamson, and Junior Caminero who is still coming into his own as one of the top prospects in baseball.

On the other side, it’s projected that Joey Boyle will make the start for Tampa Bay. His one start this season vs. the Cardinals was a dandy. Six innings pitched, two earned runs, and zero batters walked. These Twins bats have been struggling to start the season as only two of the opening day starting lineup is batting over an average of .250.

First pitch is set for 3:10 p.m. and you can catch all the action on Valley News Live on KX4.
