The Philadelphia Phillies (4-3) and Colorado Rockies (2-5) play Saturday in the second game of a 3-game series at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. First pitch is slated for 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze MLB odds around the Phillies vs. Rockies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.
Season series: Phillies lead 1-0
Philadelphia jumped on Colorado SP Michael Lorenzen (3 IP, 9 ER, 12 H, 2 BB, 2 K) from the get-go, scoring 7 runs in the top of the first inning en route to a 10-1 rout Friday, spoiling the Rockies’ home opener. The Phillies were -190 favorites as the Over (10) cashed.
Philly’s first 5 batters reached — SS Trea Turner double, DH Kyle Schwarber walk, 1B Bryce Harper walk, 3B Alec Bohm RBI single, 2B Bryson Stott 2-run double — before LF-RF Brandon Marsh smacked a 1-out, 3-run homer for a 6-0 lead. The Phillies batted around, making it 7-0 on a Turner, 2-out single.
That’s was more than enough cushion for SP Aaron Nola (1-0), who allowed 1 run on 5 hits and a walk over 6 1/3 innings, while striking out 9. Three Philly relievers completed the job with 2 2/3 innings of hitless, scoreless ball.
Turner finished 3 for 4 with 2 runs and an RBI, while Harper (solo HR in second), Bohm and Stott recorded 2 hits apiece. Schwarber (1 for 3, 2 R, 1 RBI) also went yard as the Phillies won a third consecutive game and their first road game of the season.
The Rockies couldn’t follow up their exciting 2-1, 10-inning win at the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday, but they did take 2 of 3 from the AL champions. They roughed up the Jays 14-5 in Monday’s opener after dropping their first 3 games in Miami.

Phillies at Rockies picks and predictionsPrediction
Rockies 8, Phillies 7
It’s no secret that Philadelphia (-230) is the better club, but baseball teams don’t win every game and go 162-0. There’s value in the COLORADO (+190) price, which is what we should be looking to take advantage of.
Don’t bet anything crazy, but there’s value in wagering a little pizza money on this one. The Rockies did just take 2 of 3 in Toronto, cashing as +235 and +225 underdogs. Plus, the home crowd should be into as it’s the first Saturday night home game of the season.
BetMGM Sportsbook is offering a better line at ROCKIES (+200).
PASS since we’re on the Colorado ML.
Most books are offering the Phillies at -1.5 with juice of -150 or more. There’s really no value there.
If you strongly believe the Phillies are going to roll again, BetMGM has a line of Philly -2.5 (+100) at even-money.
BET OVER 10.5 (-105).
Luzardo struggled in his opener, giving up 6 runs in 6 innings to the Rangers. Look for the 8-year veteran southpaw to struggle again.
Plus, with the Rockies starting an opener, who knows what is coming out of their bullpen. However, they were in “save-mode” Friday, only using 1 reliever in the blowout loss — RHP Valente Bellozo pitched the final 6 innings (1 ER, 1 H, 1 BB, 7K) after Lorenzen was removed.
