This year the way that many people are watching Cincinnati Reds games is quite a bit different than it used to be. This is not the first year in which fans could subscribe to an online streaming platform to get the games as it has been available to fans through Bally Sports and then FanDuel Sports Network in the past few seasons. With that relationship severed before the 2026 season the Reds partnered with MLB to produce their own games and created Reds.tv to replace that, while also keeping games on many cable/satellite providers that had carried the games in 2025.

MLB and the Reds took their sweet time locking in deals with the various cable and satellite carriers, with most of those deals not being announced until Opening Day. The option had been there to purchase Reds.tv for fans in the “Cincinnati Reds television market”, which covered parts of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Mississippi, but if you were already going to get the channel through your provider you would just be wasting $100 to buy Reds.tv. It was not a good look for anyone involved.

But we are now a week plus into the season. And even with MLB having experience in the past few years with other clubs having their own streaming situation just like the Reds have now, there were some hiccups for some people. Issues have been reported that on some devices fans were “blacked out” of games that they shouldn’t have been. I personally experienced this on one device I tried to use during the series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, while the other devices in the house worked just fine. The next day the issue had resolved itself, but other users reported that they had to contact MLB customer service to get it fixed.

This morning I thought that it might be a good time to just put it out there and ask about the experiences that everyone else has had with the product. Has it worked as expected for you? What do you like or dislike?
