Juan Soto hurt himself running from second base to third base on Friday night for the New York Mets.

On Saturday, he’s out of the lineup. The injury is holding him back.

Soto himself shared an update, posted this way on X by Steve Gelbs before Saturday night’s game:

“Juan Soto says the MRI revealed a minor calf strain. He’s not going on the IL yet, but the Mets will take it day by day.”

It seems like there’s still a chance the Mets put Soto on the IL, but it’s encouraging that it hasn’t happened thus far.

The Mets originally announced Friday that Soto had been removed with “right calf tightness.”

A popular social media doctor, Jesse Morse, chimed in with his take on the situation.

“Juan Soto is dealing with a calf injury,” Morse wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Best case scenario this is just mild tweak and not actually a strain. Might take 1-2 games off and be ok. If this is a true strain, then he will likely miss a couple weeks.”

Soto has begun the season well, going 11-for-31 for a .355 average with a home run and five RBI.

It is worth noting that after stealing 38 bases last year, Soto hasn’t gotten one yet this season.

The Mets won’t be worried about that. They’d just like to get Soto back in the lineup.
