One definition of insanity is trying something again and again and expecting different results.

It’s probably not ideal that the Toronto Blue Jays appear to be approaching that level of decision-making with one of their relief pitchers.
That’s how Brendon Little has things feeling in the early going, though.
Each time the left-hander takes the mound, he gets shelled. He has a 24.55 ERA, and it’s getting worse, not better.

Little has already pitched in five games this season, and only one outing was scoreless.

He allowed three runs in his first 0.2 innings against the Athletics.
Then against the Rockies two days after, he gave up four runs in 0.2 innings.
Two days after that, Little gave up another run to the Rockies in one inning.

He threw a scoreless frame against the White Sox on Friday, but then on Saturday in Chicago, Little gave up three runs and recorded just one out.
This is a guy who had a 3.74 ERA in 49 appearances in 2024 and followed it up with a 3.03 ERA in 79 outings in 2025.

It makes sense that Blue Jays manager John Schneider would enter this season with a lot of trust in Little.
Right now, though, Little can’t keep getting the baseball in key moments. He’s not getting the job done at all.
