Chattanooga sent 16 batters to the plate in one inning in a win as they moved to 2-0, Rece Hinds homered again for Louisville, Arnaldo Lantigua had two hits for Daytona, and Dayton got rained out.

Through Friday the 10th I will be including the Top 25 Prospect Rundown here on the site and game notes, but after that if you would like to get that each and every day, you can get it emailed to you every morning during the season by signing up at Patreon and helping support the site.

The Louisville Bats lost 8-6 in 6 innings. Box Score

Game Notes

This game was shortened by rain and came to a halt in the bottom of the 6th inning with no one on and two outs. After 54 minutes they called it a complete game.

Iowa put it to another Louisville start as Darren McCaughan was charged with eight earned runs in 3.0 innings. In the series Iowa has scored 28 runs – all earned – in just 11.1 innings by the four starting pitchers this series.

Another day and another home run for Rece Hinds. He has homered in three of his last five games. He also drew a walk, giving him a walk in six of his eight games played. He’s hitting .400/.500/.900 on the year.

Hector Rodriguez picked up another walk, giving him six walks in eight games. He also had zero strikeouts in the game, which was the first time he’s gone without a strikeout in a game since Opening Night. Rdoriguez had six walks in the first eight games last season, too.

Lyon Richardson has allowed just two hits in 5.2 shutout innings this season. He’s walked one and struck out six. All three of his outings have seen him pitch more than an inning.

The Chattanooga Lookouts won 13-5. Box Score

Game Notes

This game didn’t start on time despite the weather being just fine. Instead they waited around for a while before the rain showed up and in total the game was delayed 2 hours and 36 minutes before it got started. Then the game lasted over three hours. Rough night for those who stuck around for the game.

Chattanooga scored a run in both the 1st and 2nd innings. But it was the 4th inning that put the game away. The Lookouts sent 16 batters to the plate and scored 11 runs in the frame to make it 13-0. Kevin Abel hadn’t even allowed a hit to that point, and he wouldn’t over the next two times that Columbus came to the plate, either, as he finished his day without giving up a hit in his five innings. The Lookouts bullpen didn’t have their best night as they allowed seven runs in four frames and walked six batters. They had a lot of wiggle room to work with, though.

Zavier Warren went 0-5 with five strikeouts on Opening Night. He redeemed himself in a big way in game number two as he got on base four times, drove in four runs, and had two extra-base hits.

Austin Hendrick is out to a hot start as he’s picked up five hits in 10 at-bats to begin the season.

After hitting a home run and drawing a walk in the opener Leo Balcazar came back with three hits and two more runs batted in

The Dayton Dragons were postponed

The game is scheduled to be made up as part of a doubleheader on April 29th when the Dragons return to Lansing.

The Daytona Tortugas lost 14-1. Box Score

Game Notes

The game was close through the first four innings. Jupiter led 2-1 entering the 5th and then scored seven runs in the inning and added another four in the 7th to really put a stamp on the game. Daytona had just three hits in the game. The Tortugas pitching staff combined for 15 walks. Daytona hitters struck out 18 times and four different players had a 3-strikeout game, while two others struck out twice. Rafhlmil Torres was the only Tortugas not to record a strikeout at the plate.

Bryce Archie was the only pitcher for Daytona not to issue multiple walks. He only faced two hitters, but he did retire them both in the top of the 9th inning. This was his professional debut.
