QUINCY, IL- Even mother nature and a change of venue couldn’t stop the West Hancock Titans boys baseball team from winning on Friday afternoon. Their game with Canton game was originally scheduled to be played at West Hancock, but it was moved to Quincy Notre Dame due to wet field conditions. They would pick up an 8-6 win.

West Hancock fell behind 2-0 in the top of the first but they responded with three runs to take a 3-2 lead on a three-run homer from Logan Baker. After a scoreless second inning, the Titans exploded for four runs in the bottom of the third inning for a 7-2 lead. The Titans were outhit 9-5 in the contest but they made their hits count. Baker’s only hit in the game was the home run in the first. Brayden Carter, Layton Conkright, Keagan Todd, and Juris Pohren had the other hits for West Hancock. Conkright had two RBI’s and Pohren had one.

Starting for the Titans on the mound was Baker. He pitched two innings allowing four hits, two runs, two walks, while striking out two on the day. Conkright relieved for the Titans and he delivered. He pitched five innings giving up five hits, four runs, and walking two batters. He struck out nine Canton hitters. West Hancock recorded 11 strikeouts while Canton recorded nine strikeouts.

The Titans improve to (5-4) on the season. They host Beardstown on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
