Shohei Ohtani contributed two hits and a solo shot for the Dodgers, who have won four straight.

Max Scherzer (1-1) walked Kyle Tucker with one out in the first and after Freeman struck out, Hernandez roped a 1-0 slider down the left field line for his second homer in two games.

Scherzer left after two innings because of forearm tendinitis but could make his next start, according to manager John Schneider. The veteran right-hander gave up two runs on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

Justin Wrobleski (1-0) allowed one run in the bottom of the first. George Springer led off with a walk, Okamoto singled with two outs and Ernie Clement stroked an RBI single to center.

Back in the dome across the bay from Tampa, the Rays rallied from a two-run deficit to claim their third straight win.

It was their first game at Tropicana Field in 19 months after the destruction from Hurricane Milton — 561 days ago.

Junior Caminero hit a solo shot for the second straight game, and Yandy Diaz (stolen base) and Chandler Simpson (two stolen bases) had two hits each, with Simpson reaching base for the 10th straight game to tie Randy Arozarena’s club record to start a season.

Starter Shane McClanahan lasted four innings and allowed two runs on just one hit. He struck out five and walked four.

Matt Shaw homered in the ninth, and Nico Hoerner drove in two runs as the Cubs mustered four hits and lost for the second straight time.

In a six-inning start, Chicago’s Jameson Taillon (0-1) yielded seven hits and four runs (three earned). He fanned four without a walk but surrendered two homers.

Kevin Kelly (1-1) and Bryan Baker (first save) reversed their roles from Sunday’s series-earning victory in Minnesota.

Marquez improved to 7-1 in eight career starts against the Pirates.

Spencer Horwitz had two hits and Ryan O’Hearn had a double for the Pirates, who left nine runners on base and had a five-game winning streak snapped.

Pittsburgh starter Bubba Chandler (0-1) exited the game after 4⅓ innings pitched for the second consecutive start to open the season.

Chandler walked four and struck out four after striking out six and walking six in his first start March 31 against the Cincinnati Reds. But unlike that season-opening outing, Chandler did not escape unscathed as he gave up three runs on five hits, including a pair of doubles.

Brewers 8, Red Sox 6

BOSTON — Garrett Mitchell’s two-out RBI single in the eighth inning broke a tie and helped the Milwaukee Brewers defeat the Boston Red Sox.

Mitchell’s single came against reliever Garrett Whitlock (0-1) and drove in Brice Turang. Left fielder Roman Anthony’s wild throw on the play allowed Christian Yelich to score and put the Brewers up 7-5. Turang and Yelich each reached base in the inning via a walk from Whitlock.

Milwaukee scored its eighth run in the ninth when Luis Rengifo doubled and scored on Sal Frelick’s single.

Boston had the tying run on first with two outs in the ninth, but Angel Zerpa earned his first save by retiring Trevor Story on a groundout to end the game.

CHICAGO — Brandon Young pitched five shutout innings in a spot start and Gunnar Henderson homered, boosting the visiting Baltimore Orioles to a win against the Chicago White Sox.

Baltimore stopped a three-game losing streak while handing the White Sox their first home loss of the season.

Chicago was coming off a three-game weekend series sweep of the defending American League champion Toronto Blue Jays but struggled to mount an attack Monday. Four Orioles pitchers combined on a four-hitter.

Baltimore closer Ryan Helsley walked the first two batters in the bottom of the ninth but regrouped to pick up his third save. Lenyn Sosa had an RBI groundout and Andrew Benintendi followed with an infield single before Helsley fanned Edgar Quero to end the game.

Ryan Mountcastle had two of Baltimore’s seven hits.

Young (1-0) outdueled White Sox counterpart Erick Fedde (0-2), scattering two hits and two walks while striking out two.

While the White Sox produced baserunners in four of their five innings against Young, they couldn’t break through. Chase Meidroth had a walk and single against the Orioles right-hander as part of a 2-for-3 day.

Fedde permitted two runs and five hits in six innings with one walk and four strikeouts. He took over after Chicago opener Grant Taylor worked around a Taylor Ward leadoff double in the first.

The Rangers, who earned their first home win of the season, ended a four-game losing streak, while the Mariners lost for the fifth time in the past six games.

With the score tied at 1 in the home half of the sixth inning, Seager hit a two-out single off Mariners starter Logan Gilbert and moved to second base on a wild pitch. Burger then drove a 3-2 pitch into the gap in left-center field to drive in Seager.

Gilbert (0-2), with a 2.90 ERA in 16 previous appearances against the Rangers, pitched well against them once again on Monday but took the loss. He allowed two runs on six hits in six innings, with five strikeouts and no walks.

Seattle had just two hits for the night, one a solo home run by slugger Cal Raleigh in the first inning, his first of the season. It was the only hit yielded by Texas starter Jacob DeGrom, who went five innings, walked one and struck out six.

The Astros jumped ahead in the first inning with a two-out rally against starter Ryan Feltner (1-0). Altuve and Carlos Correa doubled and Walker singled to make it 2-0.

Smith hit a solo homer in the fourth inning to give Houston a 3-0 lead, but the Rockies rallied in the fifth.

Castro singled and Brenton Doyle walked to open the inning, and both moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Jake McCarthy. Ryan Weiss (0-1) replaced starter Cody Bolton, who was hit hard in allowing two runs on three hits with two walks and striking out five in 4⅓ innings.

Feltner allowed four runs on seven hits in 5⅓ innings with two walks and a strikeout.

Tim Mayza, Jonathan Bowlan, Jose Alvarado, Brad Keller and Jhoan Duran picked  up starter Andrew Painter with 15 outs of two-hit ball, allowing the Phillies to rally for the fifth win in their past six games.

After the Giants had gone up 4-0 against Painter, the Phillies started a comeback against Giants starter Adrian Houser with a two-run fifth. Harper had an RBI double in the inning.

Houser carried the two-run lead into the seventh, but then left after allowing singles to Justin Crawford and Trea Turner to open the inning.

Left-hander Ryan Borucki (0-1) then walked Kyle Schwarber to load the bases, after which Harper singled to right field, tying the game.

Alec Bohm followed with a go-ahead double, scoring Schwarber, and Brandon Marsh made it 6-4 with a sacrifice fly off the third Giants pitcher, Caleb Kilian.

Houser was charged with four runs on nine hits in his six-plus innings. He walked two and struck out three.

The Philadelphia bullpen took it from there, striking out six in its five innings. Bowlan (1-0), the pitcher of record when the Phillies went ahead in the seventh, was credited with the win. Duran, who gave up a two-out double to Willy Adames in the ninth, earned his fourth save.
