On Friday afternoon, the Colorado Rockies announced multiple roster moves ahead of their first game against the New York Mets.

Second baseman Thairo Estrada has been reinstated from the 60-day injured list. He is expected to make his Rockies debut this evening in Queens and will wear no. 39 on his jersey.

Estrada, 29, was signed as a free agent this off-season to a one-year, $3.25 million contract with a mutual option for 2026. He spent the last four seasons with the San Francisco Giants. He is a career .251/.300/.394 hitter with 48 home runs over parts of six major league seasons.

Although last year was a career low for Estrada, he spent much of the season dealing with injuries. He arrived healthy for spring training with the Rockies, but was hit by a pitch in a game against the Texas Rangers and suffered a wrist fracture as a result.

As a corresponding roster move, rookie second baseman Adael Amador (no. 3 PuRP) has been optioned to the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes.

Amador, 22, has had consistent playing time since Warren Schaeffer took over as interim manager. However, he was unable to find a rhythm at the plate. In 13 games he went just 5-for-37 with no extra base hits. However, he has improved on his plate approach, drawing six walks to nine strikeouts.

In addition, the Rockies have designated outfielder Nick Martini for assignment.

The Rockies signed the 35-year-old Martini to a minor league deal during the off-season and he made the Opening Day 26-man roster after a strong spring training where he hit .390/.500/.561 with two home runs.

Unfortunately, the spring success did not translate to the regular season. In 43 games with the Rockies—mostly as a designated hitter or in left field—Martini hit .225/.288/.294 with only five extra base hits, including one home run.

To replace Martini, the Rockies have selected the contract of outfielder Sam Hilliard from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Hilliard, 31, was originally named to the 26-man Opening Day roster, but was designated for assignment when the Rockies brought in Mickey Moniak.

In 40 games with the Isotopes this season, Hilliard hit .288/.372/.538 with 11 doubles, five triples, and six home runs. He will resume wearing no. 16, which he wore when he returned to the Rockies last season.

After today’s transactions, the Rockies have a full 40-man roster.
