BALTIMORE, MD (WBFF) — The Baltimore Orioles have swung an early season trade to add a left-handed reliever.
The team announced it has acquired pitcher Nick Raquet from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for minor league outfielder Brayden Smith.
Raquet, 30, has only pitched two innings at the Major League level, both coming last season with the Cardinals.
He posted a miniscule .77 ERA over 35 innings with the Cardinals’ Double-A affiliate in 2025, but struggled to a 5.19 ERA over 17.1 innings in Triple-A.
Raquet was off to a better start in Triple-A this season, with one run allowed over three innings pitched.
Baltimore will add him to its Major League roster.
In exchange, the Orioles will send the Cardinals an outfielder in Smith, who was a 13th round draft pick for Baltimore last year.
