The Chapman Lady Irish softball team improved to 6-0 by claiming a double header sweep over Valley Heights Thursday by scores of 6-0 and 7-4.
Olivia Harold was dominant in the circle striking out 14 batters, allowing three hits, zero runs over seven innings while walking two.
Teagan Ellis popped two hits and drove in three while Harold also had two hits including a double to help lead the Chapman offense. Zoey Peterson delivered an RBI triple, and Anna Martinez drove in a run with a hit.
Chapman scored three times in the first and added two in the third and finished with a single run in the fifth.
Paige Miller took the loss for Valley Heights allowing six runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking seven.
Jacey Shippy tied game two at 4-4 with a single in the bottom of the third inning after Valley Heights scored four runs in the top of the third for the lead. Kennedy Scholz singled leading off the Chapman third. Harold followed with an RBI single. With one out, Ellis singled to move Harold to third. Asa Courtois hit into a fielder’s choice that saw Harold put out at home. Shippy then tied the game with her sharp single past third base.
Chapman added two runs in the fourth to take the lead and one in the six to secure the 7-4 win. Harold picked up the win in relief of Kaylee Livingston. Livingston tossed the first three and two-thirds, allowing four runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking two. Harold went three and one-third innings of scoreless ball giving up two hits and striking out four.
McKenzie Leighty, Kennedy Scholz and Callie Cook had two hits for the Irish. Martinez drove in three runs and Harold had two RBI.
Raegan Berger took the loss for Valley Heights.
