WILLIAMSBURG — A big five-run top of the fifth proved to be the difference for the Curwensville baseball team as the Golden Tide knocked off Williamsburg, 11-5, to remain undefeated on the season.
It proved to be a sloppy defensive game for both teams as they combined to commit 11 errors (7 by Williamsburg). However, Curwensville proved to be the be the team to get the bats going as the Golden Tide churned out 11 hits in the win.
The Golden Tide jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the top of the second only to see Williamsburg answer back with three runs of its own in the bottom half of the second against Tide ace Lawson Neiswender.
Curwensville got one of those runs back in the third breaking the game open with its five-run fifth to go up 11-3 before ultimately winning 11-5.
Breck Finn and Peyton Perks each had three hits to lead the Tide attack, with each knocking in a run. Finn had a pair of doubles in the game.
Cael Bultler had two hits, including a double while scoring four times, while Lincoln Hoyt had a double and two RBIs.
Neiswender aided his own cause with a double and RBI as he collected another win on the mound. He allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits in four innings of work while striking out six and walking three.
