The Stoughton softball team opened its season with an 8-6 win over Madison Edgewood in a Badger Small Conference game on Tuesday, April 7, at Madison College.
Junior Madelyn Barsness pitched a complete game for the Vikings, giving up two earned runs on eight hits. Barsness also had nine strikeouts. At the plate, Barnsess finished 3-for-3. Junior Emily Matheny went 3-for-4 and scored two runs out of the leadoff spot. Juniors Chloe Buell and Camille Buell both had two RBIs.
Stoughton (1-0, 1-0 Badger Small) scored four of its eight runs in the top of the seventh inning.
