Brewers Predicted to Trade $34 Million Slugger Amid Phillies Reunion Rumors originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

With a second straight NL East title already in sight, fans and pundits alike rightfully wonder where the Philadelphia Phillies will upgrade ahead of the July 31 trade deadline.

If and when the first-place Phillies add a new face, perhaps it’ll be one that they know all too well.

Veteran first baseman Rhys Hoskins is a pending free agent on an inconsistent 29-28 Milwaukee Brewers team. Those types of players frequently get moved during trade season, especially when the player in question boats a .843 OPS, his highest since 2021.

Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller proposed that Hoskins, who turned 32 in March, could be available this summer. That’s good news for a Phillies fanbase that continuously suggests the club reunite with Hoskins, who hit .242 with 148 home runs, 405 RBI, and a .846 OPS in six seasons.

Hoskins averaged 25 home runs, 68 RBI, and 25 doubles during his Phillies tenure. The two sides parted ways after a torn ACL cost Hoskins the entire 2023 campaign.

Philadelphia radio host Joe Giglio publicly endorsed the Hoskins-to-Philadelphia train on Friday, hours before the Phillies hosted the Brewers.

“I know there’s a bat coming in tonight that fits in every way possible,” Giglio said on WIP. “In the clubhouse, the lineup, the city, and the fanbase.”

Hoskins enters Friday batting .282 with seven home runs, 29 RBI, and nine doubles. His .384 on-base percentage ranks 19th among qualified hitters, and he’s contributed 1.2 bWAR to the inconsistent Brewers.

Hoskins hit six home runs during the Phillies’ 2022 World Series run. Could he add to that total come October?
