The Chicago White Sox are embracing the support from their most famous fan.

Chicago revealed it will have a Pope hat giveaway during its Aug. 11 game against the Cincinnati Reds. The hat will be in honor of Pope Leo XIV, who has been open about his White Sox fandom.

He even attended a game during the team’s 2005 World Series victory over the Houston Astros.

In June, Pope Leo XIV recorded a taped message for those who gathered at Rate Field, which is the home of the White Sox. Brooks Boyer, who is the team’s executive vice president, also told reporters, “He has an open invite to throw out a first pitch.”

In a perfect world, that first pitch would happen ahead of the Aug. 11 game since he will be the focus of celebration with the hat giveaway.
