Billingsley has performed well as a midweek starter the last three weeks and has been a real shot in the arm for the Bulldogs.
During Tuesday’s 5-3 victory over UAB, Billingsley went 3.2 innings and gave up two runs on two hits with no walks and a pair of strikeouts in 50 pitches.
Without McPherson and Kirk, O’Connor said Billingsley has filled the void adequately.
