Designed with Nike, the special uniforms also give a nod to the team’s 1980s era.
ARLINGTON, Texas — Two things woven deeply into the fabric of Texas will be showcased in fabric worn by the Texas Rangers through the remainder of the baseball season.
On Thursday, the Rangers unveiled new Nike City Connect uniforms and the theme of this new gear celebrates both the history of North Texas’ only Major League team and Mexican culture. The team said in a release about the new jerseys that this culture is “woven into the state’s identity and into the name the team proudly represents.”
The Rangers’ City Connect uniforms will spell out the name “Tejas” in a Cochineal-red base accented by classic Rangers typography, according to the release.
That classic typography is meant to be a nod to the team’s 1980s-era uniforms — the team’s caps will sport its iconic block “T” when wearing the City Connect jerseys. Textured elements on both will draw from Mexican craftsmanship and artistry such as papel picado-inspired artwork on the jersey’s left sleeve, charro-influenced patterns, and a custom leather belt.
In total, these jerseys are meant to highlight the shared heritage of the Rangers, the people of Texas and the Mexican influence that touches everyone in the state.
“This year’s City Connect uniform reflects the strong Hispanic influences that have shaped Texas, with special tributes to Mexican heritage and Rangers history,” Jim Cochrane, Texas Rangers executive vice president and chief business officer, said in the release.
“Our marketing team worked closely with Nike to translate those stories into a design that feels authentic to our club and the connection we share with our fans,” Cochrane said.
According to the release, the Rangers will wear the uniforms for the first time on April 24 when they host the Athletics at Globe Life Field. The team will wear the uniforms every remaining Friday home game during the 2026 season, as well as two additional Saturdays on June 6 (Mexican Heritage Weekend) and September 19 (Hispanic Heritage Weekend.)
The Nike MLB City Connect Series launched in 2021 and was formed to celebrate connections between MLB franchises and their cities. The Rangers’ original Nike City Connect collection was released in March of 2023 and worn through the end of the 2025 season.
