Left-hander Aaron Ashby (3-0, 2.79 ERA) starts as the Brewers use an opener for the first time this season with Chad Patrick (1-0, 0.96) following. Right-hander Jake Irvin (1-1, 8.00) counters for the Nationals, whom the Brewers swept, 6-0, in 2025.

Washington is also the first National League opponent Milwaukee will face this season.
The Brewers recalled right-hander Easton McGee from Class AAA Nashville for additional bullpen depth in the wake of left-hander Shane Drohan being optioned following his start in Boston.
