MARYSVILLE – Olivia Harold drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Chapman Lady Irish softball team in game one versus Marysville Tuesday. Harold doubled and homered in the game to lead Chapman to 7-1 win in the opener. She was also the winning pitcher.
Chapman scored two runs in the third inning to take an early leader over the Bulldogs and then Harold doubled in a run in the fifth and drove in two more in seventh with her home run.
In the circle, Harold struck out 17 batters allowing one run on three hits while walking four over seven innings of work.
Harold collected four RBI in Chapman’s win. Kennedy Scholz had two hits driving in a run and she scored two times. Anna Martinez slapped a pair of hits and Callie Cook had two hits including a double. McKinsey Leighty, Teagen Ellis and Kyah Bell also had hits in game one.
Marysville’s pitcher allowed six earned runs on 11 hits while striking out four.
In the nightcap, Harold pounded three hits in four at bats as the Lady Irish won game two 5-0. She doubled in the first inning, singled in the second and singled in the seventh.
Chapman jumped on Marysville with three runs in the first and one in the second to take an early 4-0 lead. The Irish added a single run in the sixth for the 5-0 final.
Scholz, Leighty, Cook and Zoey Peterson and Asa Courtois all had hits in the game for Chapman.
Kaylee Livingston went the distance in the circle picking up the win. She tossed seven innings of shutout softball allowing four hits while striking out six.
Chapman improves to 8-0 on the season and sits atop the NCKL with the double-header sweep.
