BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Ahead of the Orioles’ matchup against the Giants, catcher Adley Rutschman was placed on the 10-day injured list (IL) Saturday after experiencing soreness in his left ankle.
The 28-year-old was scratched from Saturday’s lineup after the Orioles originally announced he was going to bat third against San Francisco.
First baseman Pete Alonso will now bat third. Ryan Mountcastle will now be the designated hitter while Samuel Basallo will catch for Chris Bassitt.
Maverick Handley, a catcher from AA Chesapeake, will dress in a number 98 jersey.Comment with Bubbles
