Guardians 2025 first-round pick Jace LaViolette hit his first professional home run, and the Captains beat host Dayton, 7-4, on April 12.
LaViolette’s homer was a three-run blast in the first inning, and also marked his first three career RBI. He also scored two runs.
Bennett Thompson hit a solo home run, Aaron Walton had an RBI double and Jason Chourio hit a sacrifice fly for the Captains. Chourio also scored a run on a throwing error.
Lake County had eight hits, one each for eight batters.
Starter Franklin Gómez pitched four innings and gave up one run. He struck out four and walked one. He has a 1.13 ERA in two appearances.
The Captains (4-5) and Dragons split the six-game series. Lake County returns to Eastlake next week to face the TinCaps, beginning on April 14.
