The San Diego Padres punctuated their four-game homestand against the Colorado Rockies with a 7-2 win in the final game, giving them a sweep of the series. The San Diego lineup showed its versatility scoring the first two runs of the game using small ball with bunts to move runners and sacrifice flyballs to bring them in. The Padres also powered up with Ty France, Ramon Laureano and Jackson Merrill hitting home runs in the game. France and Merrill had multiple hits in the game and were joined by Fernando Tatis Jr., getting his second consecutive start at second base, with two hits in the game. Not all was positive on Sunday though. San Diego starter Nick Pivetta left the game after completing three-plus innings. He did not allow a hit or a walk and recorded four strikeouts before being replace on the mound by Kyle Hart. Pivetta was removed due to injury, which was later announced by the Padres as elbow stiffness. Pivetta was understandably upset walking off the field, especially considering how the first three innings went, but he and manager Craig Stammen were not willing to give a definitive answer as to the extent of the potential injury or what it could mean for the right-hander and the San Diego rotation. The Padres are off Monday, but will return to action against the Seattle Mariners at Petco Park on Tuesday at 6:40 p.m.
