The Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago White Sox announced a trade April 13 that will send second baseman Lenyn Sosa to the Jays.

Sosa, who hit 22 home runs in a breakout 2025 campaign on the South Side, will bolster the Jays’ ailing lineup. The Blue Jays transferred pitcher Shane Bieber to the 60-day injured list to make room for Sosa on their 40-man roster.

Sosa, 26, was off to a slow start himself. He’s 7-for-33 (.212) with no home runs in his first 12 games of the season. In addition to second base, Sosa has played first base, third base and designated hitter in parts of five major league seasons (2022-26) with the White Sox.

The White Sox will receive 18-year-old outfielder Jordan Rich and a player to be named later or cash from Toronto.

Rich was a 17th-round draft pick by the Blue Jays last summer.
