The Los Angeles Angels earned an 11-4 victory over the New York Yankees on Thursday. As a result, the Angels and Yankees split their four-game series. Mike Trout and Aaron Judge couldn’t stop crushing home runs all series long, as Trout hit five and Judge had four. Trout hit his fifth home run of the series during Thursday’s contest. After the game, Angels outfielder Jo Adell reacted to Trout’s huge series, via Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com.
“It’s vintage Mike Trout, you know,” Adell said. “When he’s healthy and he’s feeling good, there’s really nothing like it. It’s special. It’s one of a kind.”
Trout, 34, played in 130 games last year. He had not previously played in more than 130 games since 2019. While on the field in 2025, Trout did not play up to his MVP-level expectations.
After his home run explosion against the Yankees, however, Trout now has a 1.010 OPS and seven home runs. It is early in the season, but he looks like the three-time MVP that he was during the 2010’s decade.
Will Trout be able to maintain his impressive performance? Only time will tell of course. Staying healthy will obviously be a necessity. If Trout can stay on the field, it would not be surprising to see him end up having a huge bounce back campaign.
There was a time when Trout was considered to be the best player in the sport. While he is now in his mid-30’s, this is still Mike Trout we are talking about.
Trout and the Halos will look to win a second consecutive contest on Friday night back at home against the San Diego Padres.
