A scary situation unfolded during a Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) game on Thursday. A Japanese referee was struck in the head with a bat in a frightening moment that forced the judge to leave the game afterwards.
The Yakult Swallows and the Yokohama BayStars clashed at Meiji Jingu Stadium. Yakult’s batter, Jose Osuna, accidentally injured the home plate umpire, Takuto Kawakami.
A video shared by Jomboy Media on Thursday showed Osuna in the third inning on a 2-1 pitch count.
He swung and missed the ball, but the movement caught the umpire’s head. The bat slipped out of the batter’s hands, going straight to the judge’s head. He stumbled back before falling to the ground.
