COLUMBIA – The South Carolina baseball team dropped a 9-0 decision to No. 17 Mississippi State Saturday afternoon (April 18) at Founders Park.

After a scoreless three innings, the Bulldogs scored five runs in the top of the fourth, highlighted by a three-run home run from Blake Bevis.

Mississippi State scored a run in the sixth and three in the eighth on a home run from Ace Reese for the 9-0 win.

Talmadge LeCroy, KJ Scobey and Dawson Harman were responsible for six of the Gamecocks’ seven hits with two safeties apiece. The loss went to Amp Phillips, who allowed five runs (three earned) on six hits with three strikeouts in four innings.

POSTGAME NOTES

Parker Marlatt and Josh Gregoire each pitched 1.2 scoreless innings of relief, combining for just one hit and two strikeouts.
Carolina struck out 18 times in the loss.
The Gamecocks were shutout for the third time this season and are 3-3 in games that result in a shutout.
