At 12-8, the Brewers are only a half-game behind the Cincinnati Reds for the division lead. The Marlins are in the opposite boat as they try to avoid losing five in a row. The rest of the NL East is struggling, though, so Miami is still in second place in the division standings behind the Atlanta Braves. These two will play their final series of the season in the middle of July in Milwaukee. The Brewers are the slight -120 favorites even on the road to sweep this first series on Sunday, and keep their winning streak rolling.

After a close 7-5 win in the opener in extras, the Brewers won comfortably on Saturday, 5-2, to win the series. Brice Turang hit a two-run home run and has now been on base in 18 consecutive games. Miami got on the board first in the second inning with an RBI single from Connor Norby, but the Marlins couldn’t score again until the ninth inning. Most of that had to do with Milwaukee starter Brandon Woodruff settling down and only giving up three hits and one run across seven innings to improve to 2-0 on the season. Sandy Alcantara didn’t pitch all that badly for Miami in five innings, but the Turang homer ended his night. Turang would finish with three RBIs on the night, driving home another run in the sixth on a single.

Milwaukee will go for the sweep by starting Jacob Misiorowski. The righty is 1-1 with a 3.32 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP in four starts. The pitching sensation started the season off great, but the Brewers have lost his last two starts. The Marlins will counter with Eury Perez, who is also 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA in four starts.
