Gavin Williams was clutch on the mound to help the Guardians take the series lead on Saturday. Williams struck out 11 batters in seven innings, while only giving up three hits and one run. Williams continues to be the major-league leader in strikeouts with 40. Baltimore’s starter, Dean Kremer, didn’t even pitch poorly in his season debut, going six innings while giving up three runs, all in the third. He gave up just two hits and struck out seven, but was saddled with the loss. His undoing, though, was giving up a three-run shot to shortstop Brayan Rocchio in the fifth inning. Leody Taveras scored the first run of the game for the Orioles with a homer in the fourth, but Baltimore could only score once more in the eighth inning with another homer from Gunnar Henderson. Catcher Bo Naylor matched that homer in the bottom of the inning to give the Guardians more breathing room.

The Guardians go for the series win by starting Joey Cantillo. The lefty has gotten off to a good start with a 1-0 record and a 2.61 ERA in four starts. The Orioles will counter with Trevor Rogers in the finale to try to even this series. The lefty is 2-1 with a 3.04 ERA, also in four starts.
