The Greenwave baseball team clinched a spot in the 3A North postseason after winning its series against Truckee while the Wave softball team was swept by league-leader Lowry. 

Fallon baseball improved to 10-11 in the 3A North while the softball team dropped to 5-7 in the 3A East. The Greenwave baseball team travels to Wooster to end the regular season and the Lady Wave traveled to Fernley earlier in the week for a critical series.

BASEBALL

The Greenwave baseball team won its first series of the month and clinched a 3A North playoff spot after sweeping a doubleheader from Truckee.

Fallon defeated Truckee in the final game of the series on Saturday, 3-1.

Braylon Byrd led the team by going 1-for-3 with a run and a double while Mason Llamas went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Jackson Storm pitched seven innings and allowed four hits and zero earned runs with three strikeouts.

Fallon never trailed after Llamas singled on a line drive to score Byrd in the first inning. In the third inning, Alijah Juarez scored on an error by catcher Dom Bourdeau and Carson Melendy scored when Byrd grounded into a fielder’s choice. Storm pitched a complete game four-hitter to secure the series win.

Fallon defeated Truckee in the first game on Saturday, 12-1.

Kylend Powell led the team by going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two doubles while Zack Adams went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Tommy Ames pitched 3.2 innings and allowed five hits and zero earned runs with one strikeout while Ryan Judd pitched 1.1 innings and allowed zero hits and zero earned runs.

The Greenwave scored in the second inning when Ames reached on an error to score Dustin Stritenberger. Powell hit a two-run double in the third and Llamas hit a two-run triple in the fourth before Adams added a sacrifice fly. Fallon ended the game with a six-run fifth inning highlighted by an RBI single from Melendy and a two-run single by Adams.

Truckee defeated Fallon in the series opener on Friday, 9-8.

Melendy led the team by going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two doubles while Llamas went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a triple. Adams pitched 6.1 innings and allowed 10 hits and six earned runs with three strikeouts, and Drake Rowlett pitched zero innings and allowed one hit and zero earned runs.

Fallon took an early lead in the second when Melendy singled to score Stritenberger and Juarez scored on a passed ball. Melendy scored on a passed ball in the third and Llamas hit an RBI single in the fourth. The Greenwave added two more in the fourth on a Stritenberger single before Byrd walked to score Llamas in the fifth.

SOFTBALL

Lowry defeated Fallon in the first game on Saturday, 25‑12, to clinch the series.

Sutton Yost finished 1‑for‑5 with a home run and one RBI while Audrey Fruzza went 2‑for‑4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Fruzza led the team by going 2‑for‑4 with a home run and two RBIs while Yost went 2‑for‑4 with one run. Hayden Dooley pitched seven innings and allowed 11 hits and four earned runs with seven strikeouts.

Lowry defeated Fallon in the series opener on Friday, 10‑0.
