The Padres pulled even with the Dodgers for the best record in baseball on Tuesday night, beating the Rockies 1-0 at Coors Field combined with the Dodgers losing to the Giants. Randy Vasquez was brilliant, allowing just three hits and no walks over seven shutout frames. The lone run in the game came when Manny Machado drew a walk with the bases loaded in the 6th inning against Chase Dollander, who was otherwise terrific striking out 9 in six innings following Colorado’s opener Jimmy Herget. Once Vasquez was out of the game, Jason Adam and Adrian Morejon combined for two perfect innings, with Mason Miller getting the night off after some heavy usage recently. Walker Buehler will start Wednesday’s game for the Padres.
