The Los Angeles Dodgers face the New York Yankees in a World Series rematch this weekend at Dodger Stadium. Many Dodgers fans have not forgotten the fateful fifth inning in World Series Game 5, which propelled L.A. to win its second championship in the last five years.

The Dodgers comeback from a five-run deficit is a fond memory for many Angelenos, so much so that bumper stickers of the 5-0 score bug have appeared on vehicles throughout Southern California. Players have seen such decorations across town, including World Series MVP Freddie Freeman.

“It’s just like when the Falcons lost (the) 28-3 (lead),” said Freeman, who smiles every time he sees the bumper sticker.

The Dodgers’ 7-6 comeback victory in World Series Game 5 is etched in baseball history forever as the team hoisted the Commissioner’s Trophy in the finals days of October. At the start of the 2025 season, the Dodgers commemorated the 2024 World Series title with a ring made of 14-karat gold that features more than 300 diamonds and 120 sapphires.

The championship ring also included a row of five diamonds on the interior to represent the five-run deficit the Dodgers overcame in the fifth inning. While the players have a ring to cherish the championship, fans have purchased bumper stickers to commemorate the comeback win.

“I get a chuckle out of (seeing the sticker), because it reminds me of us winning the World Series and to me that’s the most important thing,” Max Muncy said to The Athletic. “However fans want to remember that, that’s up to them. If the bumper sticker on the back of your car is the way to do it, then all the more power to you. When I see it, it just brings a smile to my face. For me, it’s not about what happened on the other side. For me, it’s about us finding a way to win that game.”
