Arlington, Tx – The Texas Rangers continued their homestand on Friday against the St Louis Cardinals. Jack Leiter took the mound for the Texas team, hoping to get a struggling team back on track.

The Rangers went 1-2 against the Blue Jays, and have only won 2 of their last 10 games. Pitching has not been the problem, and it never has in 2025.

After a quiet top of the first, the Rangers struck first in the bottom of the inning on a single by Josh Jung that scored Sam Haggerty from second.

The Rangers proceeded to tack on 4 more runs in the second inning off the bats of Sam Haggerty (2 run triple) and Wyatt Langford (2 run homerun).

Leiter pitched into the 6th inning and gave up no runs on 3 hits.

“Great job by Jack. Nice job by Jack against a tough lineup.” Bochy said. “This is a game that should do a lot for their confidence…”

” I think it’s a good lineup, they’re all tough outs” Leiter told us after the game. “They like to work the counts, so you kind of have to mix [pitches]…keep them off balance.”

The Rangers offense wasn’t done either. They tacked on 4 more runs in the 6th inning to make the score 9-0 with hits from Jake Burger, Marcus Semien, Sam Haggerty, and Josh Jung.

Marcus Semien went 4-4 with a 2 run homer. It was his first 4 hit game since 5/7/24 against the Athletics, and his first multi-hit game since May 7.

“Marcus was, the Marcus we know” Bruce Bochy told the media after the game. “He had some really good at bats there, and really, throughout the lineup we had some really good hits.”

The Rangers also had two walks in the inning (Kyle Higashioka and Wyatt Langford). The offense remembered how to offense tonight.

“When you go through a tough grind like we have, hopefully this is something that will give them a lot of confidence, getting them swinging that bats like we know they can” Boch told us.

It was nice to see the offense produce, and especially against a good team like the Cardinals. Adolis Garcia took the night off for a ‘mental rest day’ according to Bochy, and it seemed to work for the Rangers.

In the seventh Kyle Higashioka singles and Marcus Semien had his 4th hit on the night, which was a 2 run blast to make it 11-0.

The Cardinals got one back in the top of the 8th on a double off the bat of Lars Nootbaar, but that was it for the Cardinals.

Caleb Boushley pitched the last 3 innings of the game, which gives a guy a save in Major League Baseball. It was his first career save.

The Rangers took it to the Cardinals in game 1 of this three game set, and looked comfortable at the plate doing it.

Bochy hopes that can continue into game 2 and 3 of this series.
