The Rockwall-Heath Lady Hawks made a statement in their opening playoff round series against the Sachse Lady Mustangs. The Lady Hawks got the job done with a clean sweep of the Lady Mustangs to become bi-district champs.

The team was already on a role after Game 1 on Wednesday where they picked up a 12-0 mercy rule victory.

Alex Pitre threw a complete game shutout in the pitchers circle while striking out seven and Taylor Scott led the team with three RBIs.

The team was looking to follow that up with another big performance on Day 2 the following night and thats exactly what they did. The Lady Hawks followed up their night one performance with another mercy rule shutout by a 10-0 final score to clinch the series.

Makenna Burleson got the start on night two and only surrendered two hits while striking out six.

The Lady Hawks did a majority of their work offensively in the early innings of the game. The team set the tone early with a four run bottom of the first.

The top of the order loaded the bases with Piper Moore and Jazahia Raymond picking up singles and Taylor Scott drawing a walk.

It didn’t take long for Anna-Kate Synesael to come through with the with the biggest hit of the game, sending a ball rocketing into right and clearing the base baths while racing around the diamond herself and crossing home plate for an inside the park grand slam.

Scott drove in two more runners in the bottom of the second with a single to right to make it 6-0 Lady Hawks.

In the bottom of the third, Burleson got in on the action at the plate with an RBI single into center field and Imani Thornton drove in another run on a pop fly to make it 8-0.

All the Lady Hawks needed was two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to reach the shut out score.

The Lady Hawks will take on Waco Midway in the area round on next Saturday.
