A ranking of ridiculous Milwaukee Brewers innings in 2026

The Brewlishness has been afoot in 2026, where the Milwaukee Brewers are once again a winning ballclub despite just 20 home runs, tied for second-to-last in all of baseball.

Hampered by injuries that are keeping the lineup’s biggest power threats on the bench but also leaning into a style of speed and contact, the Brewers have logged a number of monster innings, sometimes without much logical explanation.

That was the case April 28 in a 13-2 win over the Diamondbacks, when Milwaukee put together an eight-run sixth inning, largely on light contact. It was also true in their win two days earlier in Pittsburgh, when a similar five-run frame gave the Brewers a 5-0 win.

As a toast to the Brewers style of play, a look at the Most Brewers Innings of 2026 thus far:

1. April 28 vs. Diamondbacks (13-2 win)

Inning: Sixth (eight runs)

The rally: Sal Frelick single, David Hamilton bunt single, Joey Ortiz bunt single, Garrett Mitchell single (run), William Contreras single (73.8 miles per hour, two runs), Brice Turang walk, Tyler Black single (64.9mph on broken bat, run), Jake Bauers single (two runs), Lockridge pop-out, Frelick reaches on catcher’s interference, Hamilton double (81.7 miles per hour, two runs), Ortiz strikeout, Mitchell pop-out.

The Brewers had just seen their lead cut to 3-2 in the top of the fifth, then got a two-run single by Black (82.2mph) in the bottom half to replenish the lead to 5-2. One inning later, the game got way out of hand.

2. April 6 at Red Sox (8-6 win)

Inning: Fourth (four runs)

The rally: Frelick single, Hamilton walk, Blake Perkins sacrifice bunt, Turang walk, Contreras reaches on error by third base (run), Christian Yelich single (run), Mitchell single to the pitcher (55.4 miles per hour, run, Bauers walk (run), Luis Rengifo grounds into double play.

What made this game more memorable than just one inning was Willson Contreras getting angry after getting plunked by a pitch from Brandon Woodruff, but the Brewers fingerprints were all over this win. After the Brewers scored their four runs and lost the lead in the subsequent inning, Milwaukee fought back to tie the game thanks in part to Hamilton going from first to third on an infield single, followed by an RBI groundout. The go-ahead run later scored on a play where an errant throw from the outfield also permitted another insurance run to score on the play.

3. April 17 at Marlins (7-5 win)

Inning: 10th (three runs)

The rally: Gary Sánchez walk on pitch-clock violation, Bauers single (69.9mph), Rengifo reaches on fielder’s choice (62.7mph) in which throw home went wide of plate (run), Mitchell double (two runs), Greg Jones groundout, David Hamilton strikeout, Sal Frelick groundout.

The grounder by Rengifo maybe could have been a double play; instead, the wide throw home allowed a go-ahead run to score and set the table for a larger rally. Turang made a diving play in the eighth to save a go-ahead run and keep the game alive for the Brewers to win in extras. An overthrown pick-off throw by the catcher at third base allowed an earlier run to score.

4. April 15 vs. Blue Jays (2-1 win)

Inning: eighth (two runs)

The rally: Hamilton infield single (48mph), Frelick reaches on fielding error by catcher, Contreras single (run), Turang groundout (run), Sánchez groundout, Bauers intentional walk, Lockridge groundout.

Frelick’s chooper at home plate was mishandled by the Blue Jays catcher after it died it the dirt right in front of the box, possibly because of water leaking through the American Family Field roof on account of driving rain stroms. The Brewers had five hits in the game, and the only one over 100 miles per hour belonged to Joey Ortiz in the narrow win. Turang’s groundout was weakly struck, just 53mph, and perfectly placed to drive in the winning run.
