GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Anyone who’s been to a baseball game has heard the thoughts of hecklers, but have you ever heard an umpire yell back?
They might be tuning it out, but some things do get through, as three local umpires shared with us this week.
From angry fans charging the field with a bat, to name-calling, to coach ejections, they’ve seen and heard it all.
In this story, we combine that with the perspective of a fan, who really aren’t all that different than umpires. At the end of the day, they both love baseball.
To become a local umpire, you can reach out to Frank Barlow at barlow929@gmail.com or call at 919-895-1150.
They will train and mentor you, and you get to make your own hours.
