KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A pair of Kansas City Royals pitchers underwent surgery on Wednesday for injuries to their pitching arms.
The Royals announced that right-handed pitchers Ryan Berget and Ben Kudrna each underwent surgery Wednesday to repair differing injuries.
Bergert, whom the Royals acquired in a trade with the San Diego Padres in July 2025, started the season in Triple-A Omaha with the Storm Chasers before experiencing discomfort in his pitching elbow.

Ben Kudrna, a Blue Valley Southwest alum who the Royals drafted in the second round of the 2021 MLB Draft, underwent olecranon stress fracture fixation surgery on Wednesday.
Both surgeries will sideline both pitchers for the entirety of the 2026 season.
With both pitchers done for the season, the Royals’ starting pitching depth in Triple-A has been drastically impacted.
