OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Omaha baseball will have a new head coach next season.
After 10 years leading the Mavericks, Evan Porter announced he will step down after this season.
“While this is a difficult decision, I’m confident it’s time for me to step away and put my family first,” he said.
Porter is one of the most decorated players in program history. After being drafted by the Phillies in 2009, he returned to UNO, guiding the program to its only NCAA tournament berth as a Division I program.
“I look forward to finishing this season strong and remaining a lifelong supporter of UNO, Porter added. ”Once a Maverick, always a Maverick.”
