Hectic chaotic and crazy are the three words coming to mind for summing up the first round of the high school baseball and softball playoffs tonight. ENC teams were spread across the state aiming to extend their seasons like East Duplin and Martin County who had a pitching duel in Williamston.
The Gators scored 2 runs in the first then Kyle Kern was Nails from there on out allowed just two hits to start zero the rest of the game but same thing for Jackson Ward the sophomore pitched 6 shutout innings and left batters dazed in disbelief then with one final chance for the Panthers Mike Lee went one strikeout how about a second and with one to go a third to clinch a second round spot in a 2–0 victory.
Over in Bear Grass the Bears hosted Chatham, Central where Nate Gurganus had a nice day at the plate solid punt to move the runner but the throw is too top shelf for the first baseman and in comes the first run up 2–0 after the first Terry Perry signaling for the hit and run and once again Nate Gurganus down the 3rd baseline for an RBI single and Bear Grass wins 9–1 over the other bear team.

Martin County softball with some fun Attie in the dugout taking on Fairmont where Izzy Williams a no doubter home run get out the way camera man that was a close call as the Gators get a dominant round 1 win 8–0 shutout to be exact.
As for bear grass after baseball walked over and the Bears had already put up 15 runs the pitching didn’t allow a single hit as BGC is moving on in style to round 2 after just 2.5 innings played before each team called it.
Number 4 UNC hosted Campbell instate battle where Alex Madera bases clearing double no battle at the Bosh all Tar Heels in a 10–1 win.
UNCW going for two straight wins over NC State but the Wilmington kid Luke Nixon with a welcome back home run to tie then it was all pack from there winning 14–4 over the Seahawks.
Duke hosted the fancy Queens Royals in Durham. Blue Devils hit 5 total home runs 2 came from Ben rounds as. Duke won 12–2 by 10 runs.
In college softball East Carolina had four pirates make the All-AAC teams the top spot being Morgan Johnson 1st team honors Emma Jackson and Annie Kate Dalton 2nd team and freshman pitcher Kendall Frost on the All Freshman team Pirates are fresh off a senior weekend sweep of North Texas and start their conference tournament Wednesday as the 6th seed against either UAB or Memphis at 7:00.
