The Brewers are in town and that means Rhys Hoskins returns. Greeted last year by a rousing standing ovation, Hoskins has played well in this, the final year of a two-year deal he signed in Milwaukee following the end of his contract in Philadelphia. He remains a favorite of the people, the beacon of light during the cursed rebuild that took place in this organization.
Yet he is done in Milwaukee, barring an extension, after this season. He’s still a solid bat that can put up numbers when need be, something he is showing this year with the Brewers. He’s still got the solid eye at the plate and right handed power.
Does that sound like something the Phillies might need?
Which brings us to our question of the day: supposing that the Brewers fall out of the playoff race, should the Phillies, for this season only, make a deal to bring Hoskins back while also moving Bryce Harper out to left field?
Now, in the past, Harper has said he’d gladly move back to the outfield if it means the team were going to acquire a piece that would help put them over the top. Moving Harper now would mean moving on from the Max Kepler/Weston Wilson platoon the team is currently running out there each day. Getting Hoskins likely wouldn’t cost much in terms of trade capital since he’s still making significant money this year and is a free agent after it.
So, would you do it?
