Sturgeon Bay’s boys baseball team stayed close, but dropped both games of Tuesday’s Packerland Conference home doubleheader against Peshtigo.
The Clippers lost the first game to the Bulldogs, 6-1.
Siggy Hansen tallied Sturgeon Bay’s lone hit and run off Peshtigo pitcher Bryce Heroux, who walked two and struck out seven.
Hansen also pitched the first five innings for the Clippers and recorded the loss. He allowed three runs, one earned, on five hits with a walk while striking out seven. Elijah Van Eperen threw the final two innings in relief, allowing three unearned runs on two hits.
Game two went into extra innings, with Peshtigo scoring the gamewinner in the bottom of the eighth to defeat Sturgeon Bay, 5-4.
Hansen once again led the Clippers at the plate with three hits and 3 RBI. Jack Higginbotham added two singles.
Rylan Ruenger started on the mound for Sturgeon Bay and went four innings before Matty Hartl pitched the next three frames and handed the ball to Higginbotham in the eighth inning when Peshtigo scored the winning run. The three pitchers allowed a combined five runs on seven hits with 11 walks and six strikeouts.
Sturgeon Bay, which dropped to 2-9 overall and 2-6 in the Packerland, next plays in an invite Saturday at Chilton, before a conference doubleheader May 12 at league-leading Kewaunee.
