CALVERT CITY — Murray High’s softball team went 1-for-2 in softball action this past weekend.

The Lady Tigers ended the weekend by blasting Christian Fellowship, 17-2, at Calvert City. This game after a 12-2 loss to traditionally-strong Caldwell County Friday in Princeton. Those results left the Lady Tigers at 5-18 for the season.

CALVERT CITY — The Lady Tigers did not take long in claiming victory as this game only lasted four innings at Doctors Park in Calvert City.

Pitcher Teegan Miller made certain her team would keep command of this game once the Lady Tigers began building their lead. Miller went the short distance in the circle, allowing only two hits and two walks to go with seven strikeouts. 

She had plenty of help, including from herself. Miller was 4-for-4 at the plate with a triple, three RBIs and a run scored.

Teammate Jenna Stone also had a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with her own triple, four RBIs and three runs scored. Brooke Parker was 3-for-4 with another triple, as well as a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. MacKenzie Toliver was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Shia McNutt was 1-for-3 but had two RBIs and scored twice, which was the same worksheet for Mya Brown, sans one RBI.

For the game, Murray High 15 hits and stole seven bases, two of those coming from Chloe Summers, who also scored three times.

PRINCETON — In a meeting of two teams with the same nickname, it was Caldwell taking the win in six innings.

Defense was an issue for Murray High with only half of Caldwell’s runs being earned. The home team also only won the hits battle, 8-7.

McNutt was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, an RBI and a run scored, while Alexis Ray’s RBI single was produced the other run for Murray High. Murray High also was putting the ball into play with frequency, ending the evening with only four strikeouts.

Caldwell (10-11 with the win) was led by Ellie King’s 3-for-4 night at the dish with two triples, five RBIs and three runs scored.
