Before the Giants’ 6-2 win over the Dodgers on Tuesday night, manager Tony Vitello effectively pleaded the fifth. In fairness, there wasn’t much the Giants’ rookie manager could say about the most viral postgame celebration of the season, one that wasn’t exactly family-friendly.

“They’re a close-knit group,” Vitello said pregame on Tuesday. “Let’s put it that way.”

Following Monday’s 9-3 win, Jung Hoo Lee, Drew Gilbert and Harrison Bader met in center field to celebrate the victory. They locked arms, formed a circle and proceeded to repeatedly bump their midsections together. The clip, unsurprisingly, took off on social media.

Tuesday’s victory celebration, by contrast, was more suited for a general audience. After the Giants wrapped up another win over their rivals, Lee, Gilbert and Heliot Ramos gathered in center field, stood shoulder-to-shoulder, took off their caps and bowed in the direction of the infield. Vitello said he didn’t see the celebration in the moment, but said he liked it.

When asked if there was a request to change celebrations, Vitello laughed and said that “there was a meeting today,” but emphasized that the celebration was a secondary item.

“As much as you think of Drew and Bader because they both look like wrestling characters, those four guys are all very different, and it’s kind of a fun collage of personalities and skill sets,” Vitello said pregame. “The one common theme is they’re all very energetic and they are personalities. It makes it fun.

“When you look back on it, a lot of the winning teams that I grew up watching and continue to follow, their personality kind of comes out. Those guys I think are doing that. They help pull it out of each other.”

Funny enough, the New York Mets’ outfielders celebrated their win on Tuesday by copying Lee, Gilbert and Bader’s enthusiastic celebration. The Giants, however, will likely go for tamer options going forward.
