(KBTX) – Centerville ISD announced it has forfeited the remainder of the baseball season due to a violation of UIL rules involving an ineligible player.
The district’s interim superintendent, Dottie Sullivan, sent out a note saying Centerville received notice Monday from the UIL of allegations involving the ineligible student athlete. After an internal review, Centerville self-reported and will no longer play this postseason.
The Tigers were coming off a state championship last year and had already advanced to the regional semifinals this season. They were set to play Harleton this week.
Class 2A Division I will have a new state champion in baseball this year.
