The Colorado High School Activities Association on Wednesday released brackets for this weekend’s Class 2A-5A regional baseball tournaments.
Ten local teams made the cut in three different classifications.
One out of four teams from each classification’s eight regional tournaments statewide will advance to state tournaments, which kick off next week.
League champions automatically qualified for the 32-team postseason and the remaining spots were filled using rankings from CHSAA’s Seeding and Selection Index.
The top 8 teams in each class, determined by the index, will host their regional tournament.
Roosevelt (21-2) is the ninth seed in 4A. It will face No. 24 Dakota Ridge (14-9) at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Region 8 tournament at Canon City High School. The winner will match up with No. 8 Canon City (20-3) or No. 25 Silver Creek (11-11) in the regional final around 3 p.m.

Severance (18-5), the 18th seed in 4A, will face No. 15 Ponderosa (14-9) at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Region 2 tournament in Golden. The winner takes on either No. 2 Golden (21-2) or No. 31 Centaurus (9-14) in the regional final around 3 p.m.
One team conspicuous by its absence in the 32-team 4A postseason is Windsor.
Up until a few days ago, the Wizards were in position to possibly host their regional.
However, according to the Coloradoan, Windsor had to forfeit eight wins earlier this week because it had used an ineligible player. The player was officially ruled ineligible Monday.
By forfeiting the wins in which they used the ineligible player, the Wizards’ record dropped from 17-6 to 9-14, effectively knocking them out of the postseason bracket. Before the forfeits, Windsor was ranked ninth in the Seeding and Selection Index.

University’s longtime rival and fellow perennial title contender Eaton is the second seed in 3A.
