Three baseball teams and two softball teams from the High Desert League earned berths in the CIF-Central Section playoff brackets announced on Wednesday.

Rosamond, California City and Boron will compete in the baseball Division 6 bracket, while California City and Boron earned spots in the softball brackets.

The Roadrunners (20-6) finished second in the High Desert League with an 11-3 record. They earned the No. 3 seed in Division 6 and will host No. 14 McFarland in the first round on Friday.

McFarland (10-17) finished seventh in the South Sequoia League with a 1-11 record. 

Rosamond defeated McFarland earlier this season, winning 6-3 in a tournament on March 21. The Roadrunners scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with the win. Rosamond’s Jordan Rowens finished 3-for-4 with an RBI.

The Ravens’ baseball team (18-9-1) finished fourth in the High Desert League with a 9-5 record. Cal City is seeded No. 9 in Division 6 and will play at No. 8 Legacy Christian Academy in the first round on Friday.

Legacy Christian (14-9) won the East Sierra League title with a 9-0 record.

The Ravens defeated Legacy Christian 17-14 in a tournament game on Feb. 28. Legacy Christian scored seven runs in the bottom of the seventh to make the score close.

Cal City’s Kole Hightower finished 3-for-5 in that game, while Zeb Hewes doubled and drove in three runs and Sebastian Broussard finished 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

The Bobcats’ baseball team (13-9) finished fifth in the High Desert League with an 8-6 record. Boron is seeded No. 10 in Division 6 and will play at No. 7 Lone Pine in the first round on Friday.

Lone Pine (13-3) won the Hi-Lo League title with an 8-0 record.

The Bobcats and the Eagles had five common opponents this season. Boron was 7-0 in those games, while Lone Pine went 6-1. Lone Pine lost to Mammoth 10-6 on March 10, but later won 13-8 on April 23.

Boron defeated Mammoth twice this season, 17-9 on March 31 and 13-3 on May 1. They also had common opponents in Trona, Immanuel Christian, Mojave and Desert.

The Cal City softball team (19-7) won the High Desert League title with a 13-1 record. The Ravens’ lone league loss was to Boron, 16-11 on April 21. 

Cal City is seeded No. 10 in Division 5 and will play at No. 7 Corcoran in the first round on Friday. Corcoran (17-9) finished third in the East Sequoia League with a 3-5 record. 

The Boron softball team (16-4) finished second in the High Desert League with a 12-2 record. They lost to Cal City 7-2 and Kern Valley 13-1, but beat them both the second time around, including a 4-3 victory over Kern Valley on April 28.

The Bobcats are the No. 2 seed in Division 6 and will play host to No. 15 Trona in the first round on Friday. Trona (9-7) finished third in the Hi-Lo League with a 4-4 record.

Boron defeated Trona twice in the regular season, winning 5-2 on Feb. 17 and 16-2 on March 10. Avangaline Hall hit a home run and two doubles with six RBIs on March 10 and the Bobcats recorded 17 hits.

The second round for both baseball and softball will be on Tuesday.
