The Millersville Marauders baseball team advanced in the NCAA regional round with an 8-4 victory over Charleston at Cooper Park. Millersville, the No. 2 seed, is hosting half of the Atlantic Regional in a double-elimination format. In the bottom of the second inning, the Marauders took a 3-0 lead when Matthew Williams hit a line drive to left field, scoring two runs. Charleston closed the gap in the top of the fourth inning, tying the game at 3 after Derek Seiss hit a ball back up the middle, allowing two runs to score. Millersville regained the lead later in the frame and extended it in the fifth inning with a solo home run to left by Christo Hunsicker. The Marauders secured the 8-4 win, setting up a matchup against Seton Hill tomorrow. “They’re a well-coached team. They always are. It seems like we’re always running into them in the PSAC regional. Last week was fun, but it has nothing to do with what is going to happen tomorrow. So, we have to play great baseball and they’re always a great opponent,” Millersville head baseball coach Jon Shehan said.The first pitch of tomorrow’s regional game is scheduled for noon.
