The beer collaborations just keep coming, so often with pro sports franchises. We’ve seen big players in the craft beer movement team up with hoops teams, soccer clubs, and more, sharing in the love of the game and good beer. The latest development is out of southern California.
Ballast Point Brewing has partnered with its hometown ball club, the San Diego Padres. The brewery dropped Súper Lager, a refreshing beer that honors the team’s binational fan base. Fit with a cool-looking label and an easy-drinking build at 5.6% ABV, this is the ultimate ballpark beer.
It’s the official beer of the San Diego Padres and available at Petco Park, as well as other retailers throughout the area. Made with west coast hops, the lager can be enjoyed on draft or in can form. The artistic label looks like something plucked from a Dia de Lost Muertos celebration.

Ballast Point Brewing
A timely beer indeed, the new release caps off on a renewed interest in lagers. The style is perhaps the more popular than ever and one of the oldest in all of beer. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Ballast Point offering without a west coast spin on things.
The beer showcases three hop varieties, including Amarillo, Chinook, and Citra. Born in San Diego, the beer is inspired by both baseball and the broader culture of the city. It’s yet another beer of interest produced in a town that has some of the most breweries per capita on earth.
Ballast Point got its start back in 1996, just as craft beer was finding its footing. Since, the west coast brewery has gone on to become one of the most prominent in the region. The label has played a big role in defining the broad and intriguing west coast IPA category of beer.
